What does it mean to renew my membership?
Membership at Temple Sholom is a commitment to our community for the upcoming year (July 2024 - June 2025). It is a sacred partnership between members and the congregation that is renewed each year, either by paying an annual membership commitment, setting up an installment plan for the membership commitment, or communicating with Temple Sholom's Finance Department concerning your needs for the coming membership year.
We will always work with members of our community around the annual membership commitment. To request an adjustment to your membership commitment rate, please fill out this confidential online form.
Membership with Temple Sholom includes:
- High Holy Days tickets for all members of your household
- Free unlimited enrollment in Temple Sholom's robust Adult Education Programming and Guest Scholar Series
- Beit Sefer Shalom Religious School enrollment access privileges and Youth Engagement event opportunities
Please note, members must renew membership for 2024 - 2025 to attend Religious School and must be in good standing to be assigned/maintain a B'nai Mitzvah service date.
How do I renew my Temple membership online?
- Login to our member portal, ShulCloud, by going to sholomchicago.org and clicking "Login" (in the upper right-hand corner). If you have trouble logging in, please contact Jude Kamler at jude@sholomchicago.org.
- Once you log-in, hover over "My Account" on the navigation bar of the website.
- Then click on "My Billing" from the drop-down menu.
- Select "Submit a Payment" to pay your 2024 - 2025 membership contribution or to set up an installment plan.*
* PLEASE NOTE: Installment plans do NOT carry over from year to year. You will need to create a new installment plan for the 2024 - 2025 membership year.
This year we are asking all members to complete a brief form to tell us more about you:
We kindly request a few minutes of your time to complete a brief form that will enable us to gain a better understanding of your unique qualities and what makes you special to our community. Your input is vital in helping us enhance our services and cater to the specific needs and interests of our members.
For households with two adults, one entry should be submitted for each person.
How do I renew my Temple membership via regular mail?
Membership statements will be generated electronically, within ShulCloud, in mid-June and a hard copy statement will be mailed in July. If you prefer the latter, you may still pay your membership contribution online or by using the enclosed envelope to make your payment.
The Meaning of Giving to Temple Sholom
At Temple Sholom, we genuinely appreciate our members and realize that through membership you already make a significant commitment to the synagogue each year. Membership dues cover a significant portion of the Temple's operating expenses, but do not cover it all.
Temple Sholom prides itself on being an inclusive community that offers a welcoming home and engaging programming for all who want to participate. To live out our mission, it is essential that we ask for donations to supplement our budget. Temple Sholom's Annual Fund creates the opportunity for us to be flexible and support the greatest needs of our community at any given time.
For those who have generously contributed to the Annual Fund this past year, when you log into our member portal, ShulCloud, you will see your total Annual Fund contribution for the 2023 - 2024 membership year. The tool below provides an option to maintain that contribution amount, increase your contribution by a given percentage, or enter an alternate amount for the 2024 - 2025 membership year.
Remember! You can pledge your 2024-2025 Annual Fund contribution now, and set up a plan to pay the contribution in as many as 10 installments spread across the membership year!
What if I need to make an adjustment to my membership commitment?
Temple Sholom is committed to opening our doors to all who wish to join and extends membership commitment assistance through a confidential process. Our temple policy allows for financial adjustments to reflect individual/family financial circumstances. Requesting an adjustment to your 2024 - 2025 membership commitment is confidential and simple; once the request is received, mutually agreed upon, and payment terms are met (or a payment plan is put in place), membership will be considered officially renewed.

What if I do not want to renew my membership?
While we wish all members could remain active in our community, we understand that circumstances change, and sometimes, our members decide to not renew their membership.
